Grow Up

I have learned some very valuable information that I feel is important for me to share. I pray that it will help bring clarity for some who might need it. I have talked with several Christians lately who do not understand what it means to "grow up in Christ". I thought I was the only one that didn't understand it, but the more and more people I talk to I realized they do not know what it means either. So therefore, I am going to explain it in my own words and hope that it helps someone, like it has helped me.

Growing up in Christ is something all believers go through, it is a process and it involves you working in a partnership with Christ. When a new believer becomes saved there are additional steps to take to reach a state of maturity. There are disciplines that are necessary or you will never grow up. You will remain a baby Christian and your life will not produce much "fruit" (Peace, Kindness, Gentleness, Joy, Patience, Self-Control, Goodness, and Faithfulness). Imagine what would happen if you took a new born infant and did not feed it or you just fed it milk for it's entire life. It would be malnourished and would probably die. The same thing happens in a sense to our Holy Spirit if it is not fed the Word of God. It is the best buffet you can indulge in, eat it up, it is Good for you!

What God wants more than anything else in this world is for us to have a close relationship with Him. He beckons every single one of us and says come rest in me. We spend time with God and read the Word and take it in. The more we take in the more we are given understanding through the Holy Spirit which He deposited in us when we were born again. We get to know God as we spend time with him. Like any good relationship time is required for it to become deep and intimate.

Spending time daily is an honor and privilege and you will grow up in Christ when you spend time feeding His Spirit that indwells within you. Remember, Christ paid the price, He "bought" you so He could live through you. All believers are called the body of Christ and we all are used by Christ how He sees fit. He gave me a gift and I am using it, but it is Him in me that provides me the strength, the power and the wisdom to use His gift.

We can not change ourselves...trust me, I learned the hard way! I tried changing myself for years and years and years and when I finally realized, I could not and realized that is what Jesus came to do for me, in me and through me I celebrated. Let's do a happy dance, I no longer have to try to do it...it is Him doing it! This does not mean, I just sit idly by waiting for my day of maturity! I do what I am responsible for and He does what He promises to do. Praying, reading the Bible, attending Worship service, learning, serving etc...are my responsibilities that God expects me to do, so He can do his part. Being a part of a community is the best way to grow and is necessary because it is very hard to grow up on your own. We need the other parts of the Body so we can connect and serve him as a whole.

We are set apart and called to live for Him because He died for us. It is the least I can do, look what He did for me. In my next post I will discuss more on growing up in Christ. It is only through Him that we can ever reach our Full Potential.

Why I created this blog

I wanted to have a blog to connect to my website www.yourfullpotential.org so I can have an organized listing of my daily/weekly musings. I have a passion, purpose and mission for writing. I write because that is what I am driven to do. I share my gifts and it fulfills my mission of reaching My Full Potential. When I share and it can help someone else then I know my purpose was fulfilled. So there ya go, you now know why I chose this blog.

Have an awesome day and may you enjoy each breathe, it is a gift we often forget because it happens so naturally.
